Usman Nasir is a control systems engineer and systems designer. For eighteen years he has built automation that wasn't allowed to fail — and for the last two, he has worked deep in modern AI. The value lives in the seam between them.

Usman designs systems that make operations perform better. His core is optimization — loop tuning, advanced process control, model predictive control — and system design across every layer, from a field instrument to the PLC and DCS, up through SCADA, the historian, and into MES and the business need above them.

That breadth is unusual. Most people know one layer well. Usman has commissioned control systems on an offshore platform off Angola, validated safety-critical separators in pharma plants, and now leads machining-line automation at one of the world's largest truck manufacturers. He knows what each component does, how it fails, and what the business actually needs from it.

He treats AI as the next instrument of optimization — not a pivot away from the work, but a continuation of it. Companies adopting AI want the same thing optimization always delivered: better performance, held reliably, under real conditions. The discipline that makes automation trustworthy on a plant floor is exactly what non-deterministic AI systems need.
